iPhone 4 – Is It Really Worth It?

by admin on July 14th, 2010

So, there has been a lot of stuff in the news lately about the iPhone 4 having “lots” of issues, and being a “bad” purchase. I have had my new iPhone 4 for a week now, and I have to say that it is probably the best phone I have ever owned. I have had ZERO (0) reception issues or issues otherwise from the phone. There are only a few subtle differences between the iPhone 4 and it’s predecessor the 3gs, but those differences will blow your mind. So far, here are the things I have noticed.

  • The look. Obviously, the iPhone 4 looks different than the 3gs. Losing the sleek rounded edges and plastic back is an upgrade in my opinion. I know some people who would disagree. I think the scratch resistant glass back and the stainless steel case ads visual strength to the phone and makes the product look and feel higher end and resilient.
  • The camera. iPhone 4′s camera is amazing! The flash is awesome and powerful, and when set to video with the flash on, it can be used as a flashlight! The zoom is ok compared to the new zoom in OS4 that the 3gs now has. The reverse camera is really neat and useful for taking pictures of my daughter. (She loves to look at herself and laugh which makes for great photos.)
  • The speed, oh the speed! The iPhone 4 is waaaaaay faster at launching apps, and pretty much everything else. The speed of the new phone is unparalleled.
  • The display. I didn’t think much of the “super duper” display at first, but the more I use the phone, the more I notice the tiny little details in the designs of each app I use. The picture is just beautiful! The readability of all text is dramatically increased due to the higher resolution of this display as well.
  • The FaceTime. This feature is quite possibly the biggest revolution in the way we will communicate since the invention of micro-blogging. FaceTime is currently a very limited and somewhat useless (although very sexy) feature that will be heavily adopted by all other manufacturers in the near future. If other device manufacturers don’t jump on this bandwagon and quick, you can be certain the iPhone 4 will become the primary communication device for most users leaving in it’s wake dead Droid’s, Palm Pre’s and other wanna-be iPhones.

Even though there are only a few differences between the 3gs and the iPhone 4, the difference is still very vast. I would highly recommend this device to anyone.
